Q1: What is SoftGnome?

SoftGnome is a service that provides a remote extension to your home telephone service. SoftGnome lets you place calls using your home phone service and answer calls placed to your existing home phone number on your PC, without changing anything about your home phone service. SoftGnome requires PhoneGnome. Plug PhoneGnome in at home and take SoftGnome with you on the road, on your PC, PDA, or wi-fi phone. SoftGnome is optional and does not effect the normal operation of PhoneGnome.

Q2: I thought you said I didn't need a computer to use PhoneGnome?

SoftGnome is optional. It is not required to use PhoneGnome. PhoneGnome works perfectly fine by itself with no computer, and no software to install. For those that wish to use their PhoneGnome-enhanced phone from their PC, PDA, or other SIP-compatible phone, SoftGnome is the answer. It is an additional benefit of the PhoneGnome platform, but not required for use.
