PhoneGnome on VoIP Now’s VoIP Tutorials, Tips, and Tricks
The folks at VoIPnow provide 27 Handy VoIP Tutorials, Tips, and Tricks. We really like that the author puts PhoneGnome in the category of Tricks, in the sense of “tricking out” your VoIP service.
The PhoneGnome box essentially transforms your existing phones into Dual-mode VoIP/landline phones. The trick behind this treat is that both parties need to own a box for two-way conversations to work. Sneak one into a friend’s house and surprise them with an introduction to VoIP via a phone call.
Cool. One little correction. In fact, both parties do not need to own a box. Anyone in the US/Canada, and many popular international locations can simply register an account on the My PhoneGnome site and use their existing phone with the free PhoneGnome service to communicate with other PhoneGnome users (those with or without the box) and millions of people on other compatible VoIP and instant messages services. Cell phone numbers can be registered and used with the PhoneGnome services too.
